Open Outcry
Film Site

This one-hour documentary, directed by Jon Else, is a powerful and idiosyncratic real-time portrait of options traders working on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Designed to seize the moment in time before “open outcry” markets, such as the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, are usurped by electronic trading systems, this unique documentary captures the energy, tension, and controlled chaos of the agricultural, currency, and Eurodollar trading pits, as we follow several traders at work.

Originally broadcast nationally on PBS, 2000.
